Since 1984, Share Our Strength® has been combating hunger and poverty by motivating individuals and businesses to contribute their resources. Today, through the No Kid Hungry and Cooking Matters campaigns, they are working to eradicate childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children have access to nutritious food.

As the Event Production Manager for the Taste of the Nation Spring 2023 event in Los Angeles, my role involved comprehensive oversight and execution of the event's production. Working closely with the Culinary Partnerships & Events team, I coordinated participation from a diverse group of stakeholders including chefs, restaurants, culinary professionals, volunteers, sponsors, and local partners.

Key responsibilities and achievements included:

• Overseeing all aspects of the event's production.

• Coordinating participation among various stakeholders.

• Leading the planning and execution of venue and vendor agreements, staffing plans, volunteer and vendor schedules, and securing all required permits and insurance.

• Collaborating with an event production company to create event floor plans, security measures, vendor logistics, sponsor activations, rental needs, event signage, and graphic needs.

• Managing the event budget, invoices, financial reporting, and records, saving the organization about $35,000 in production expenses.

• Ideating and implementing a Kid’s Scavenger Hunt activation, which was sponsored by Kia Motors across markets.

• Supporting event promotion through media, web, social, and email marketing.

• Participating in regular planning meetings with the Culinary Partnerships & Events team and other event contributors.

• Managing the Universe ticketing site for the event.

Healing In/Justice was not your average conference.

As a contractor of Revolve Impact, I had the opportunity to contribute significantly to this event. Our goal was to reignite the inherent curiosity and wonder in our attendees, inspiring them to collectively envision a new world.

This immersive two-day event was meticulously designed to be highly interactive, fostering an empowering environment that promoted human connection, sparked imagination, and facilitated communal healing.

The name Healing In/Justice cleverly encapsulated our core message - emphasizing the importance of self-care as we navigated the healing process from injustice. We nurtured a growing community of pioneering leaders and organizations leading societal transformation.

The California Wellness Foundation, since its inception in 1992, remained steadfast in its commitment to catalyzing a movement aimed at preventing violence.

As a Senior Producer, key responsibilities included:

• Overseeing production for smooth operations.

The lineup included Kid Ink, D Smoke - winner of Netflix's Rhythm + Flow, Y La Bamba, Ruby Ibarra, DJ Livia, Fatty Cakes and the Puff Pastries, Chhoti Maa, and Indigo Mateo.

On May 16, 2019, the BLD PWR initiative was launched at Madera Kitchen in Hollywood, CA. This event combined culture, art, education, and strategic advocacy to establish BLD PWR as a community for influencers. The initiative, founded by actor Kendrick Sampson, aimed to educate influencers on how to use their platforms to support grassroots leaders and advocate for issues they care about.

Nike hosted  a celebratory women’s only brunch in honor of the newest Lebron 16 shoe – HFR x Lebron 16. This sneaker is the first ever LeBron signature shoe designed for women by women. The HFR x LeBron 16 Lifestyle shoe was created in partnership with Harlem’s Fashion Row–the game-changing fashion collective.

For the past decade, Harlem’s Fashion Row has worked to uplift up-and-coming female designers of color. Inspired by LeBron's belief that Women of Color are the strongest people on Earth, Nike called upon HFR to envision a signature sneaker that would embody a representation of strength specifically for women. The New York-based collective’s reimagined the LeBron 16 from the sole up.

The event honored the 16 women featured in Lebron’s #STRONGEST campaign, as well as many other strong women in the LA area. Each guest was instructed to bring a plus one who is either a mentor or mentee

This event created an opportunity for LA’s #STRONGEST women to join forces, communicate openly, and celebrate each other.. Following the private brunch event, the HFR x Lebron 16 shoe went live to the public.

Following the brunch, we hosted Nike + members event creating a space for consumers to engage with the HFR brand and customization station.

On December 6, 2018, Revolve Impact hosted its inaugural gala, where attendees were encouraged to wear their favorite statement graphic tees.

As the Event Producer for this gala, my responsibilities included:

• Designing the floor plan and mapping.

• Handling floral design and placement.

• Consulting with a mixologist to design signature cocktails.

• Ordering necessary equipment.

• Managing on-site setup.

• Supervising staff.

The event was a success with:

• 240 RSVPs received.

• Over 150 attendees.

• The entire event planned in just 7 days.

GRAMMY award-winning artist Miguel visited Adelanto, CA, the location of California's largest immigrant prison, for a press conference and a #SchoolsNotPrisons concert. He joined other artists, activists, and individuals from various backgrounds to demand an end to the inhumane treatment of immigrants in detention centers. Additionally, Miguel filmed a video for his song, "Now," featured on his 2017 album War & Leisure. The video has since attracted over 1 million views and significant global press attention. I was engaged as a contracted Event Producer for Revolve Impact, with The California Endowment being the client.

In my role as Event Producer, my responsibilities encompassed:

• Event Coordination: Ensuring all aspects of the event were planned and executed smoothly.

• Budget Management: Overseeing the budget to ensure all expenses were kept within the allocated funds.

• Permitting & Insurance: Securing all necessary permits and insurance for the event.

• Vendor Management: Liaising with vendors, negotiating contracts, and overseeing their services during the event.

• Post Production: Managing all post-event activities, including evaluations and reporting.

The event was successfully executed, with:

• A planning period of 90 days.

• An attendance of 1,200 people.

• 14 participating vendors.

• Collaboration with 10 community partners.
  

HAPPILY | ASSOCIATE PRODUCER

On March 29, 2018, I served as an Assistant Producer for TEDx LA in Los Angeles, CA. The "Work Re-imagined: Advancing Human Potential in the Workplace" event was presented by Cornerstone OnDemand and co-presented by Willis Towers Watson and Kohler & Company.

In collaboration with our production partners - 72 and Sunny, Barnana, Beanfields, Happily, Health-Ade Kombucha, Robert Mondavi Winery, Waiakea, Worksmart, and Udell Wang

My responsibilities as Associate Producer included:

• Overseeing the registration process, line management, and check-in to ensure a smooth entry experience for attendees.

• Monitoring speaker timings and communicating effectively with sound engineers to maintain the event schedule.

• Supervising the happy hour bar and food stations, ensuring they were regularly replenished and service flowed smoothly.

• Collaborating closely with senior staff from Happily to ensure a successful event.

embRACE L.A. is an initiative launched by Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson and Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell. It aims to unify Angelenos and empower communities through a citywide conversation about race and racism, challenging and changing inequities. The initiative uses a multidimensional approach focusing on changing narratives, building relationships, and advancing public policy solutions. It represents an unprecedented partnership between government, organizations, and residents.

In my role as Event Producer for this initiative, my responsibilities included:

• Developing and managing the infrastructure for the overall initiative.

• Overseeing the participant, host, and facilitator database.

• Liaising effectively with clients and other team members.

• Managing an event logistics team of 1-2 members.

• Seeing projects through from inception to production.

The initiative was successful, with:

• Coordination of 28 dinners.

• Attendance of 250-300 people.

• Involvement of 28 dinner hosts.

• An attendance rate of 73%.

ASK AGENCY | DAY OF EVENT MANAGEMENT

On March 3rd, ASK launched the vibrant Adicolor Street Fair on Melrose Ave, situated in LA’s renowned sneaker district. The event showcased 14 vivid booths, each reflecting the bold primary colors of the latest Adicolor range. The aim was to generate excitement for the new product line's availability at retailer PacSun by creating a memorable and inherently shareable experience. A unique token system was implemented to encourage social engagement, rewarding participants for posting content.

As the Event Manager, my key responsibilities involved:

• Day-of-event management, ensuring smooth operations.

• Supervising live activation set-up and ongoing management, guaranteeing engaging experiences for attendees.

• Overseeing inventory management, and maintaining an organized and efficient system.

The event was a resounding success, marked by:

• The execution of 14 live activations.

• An impressive turnout of 2,000 attendees.

• Participation from 300 influencers.

• Efficient coordination of 20 staff members.

• All these achievements were accomplished within a span of just 2 days.

Crowns & Cocktails LA is a unique beauty experience designed specifically for women of color. The event aims to highlight the luxury of natural hair care and styling through intimate encounters with boldly feminine brands and informative demonstrations.

In collaboration with OVF and AINTP, Jane Ella Productions brought together valuable resources to present and power an event that offers the ultimate beauty experience. This event was created as a platform for women of color to learn about, love, and protect their crowns - their natural hair.

As a Producer for Jane Ella Productions' Crowns & Cocktails event, my responsibilities included:

• Ideating the concept: I developed the unique idea for this beauty experience aimed at women of color.

• Partnering with local vendors: I collaborated with local businesses to support and give back to the community.

• Designing signature drinks: I created unique beverages that added a special touch to the event.

• Monitoring setup: I oversaw the setup process to ensure everything was prepared correctly for the event.

• Product demos: I coordinated product demonstrations to educate attendees about various hair care and styling products.

In June 2017, I served as the Producer for the Stacy Ike Media Brunch under Jane Ella Productions Inc.

My responsibilities for this event included:

• Conducting venue walkthroughs and designing a floor plan to optimize the space.

EVENT MANAGER

In February 2016, I held the role of Event Manager for a significant gathering at the Parkway Ballroom. The event featured Hillary Clinton and Geneva Reed-Veal, mother of Sandra Bland, whose tragic death in a Texas jailhouse sparked national outrage. It brought attention to police brutality and racial injustice. Held in a historic neighborhood on Chicago's South Side, Clinton addressed these critical issues, focusing on police brutality and mass incarceration.

As part of my role, my responsibilities encompassed:

• Assisting the Lead Event Manager: I worked closely with the lead coordinator, ensuring efficient coordination with vendors and staff for smooth event operations.

• Managing the VIP guest list: I was responsible for organizing the VIP guest list and ensuring clearance procedures were followed for security purposes.

• Overseeing day-of-event operations: On theevent dayt, I managed front-of-house staffing and catering details, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for all attendees.

As the Event Manager for Romes Joy Catering, I was responsible for managing a wrap party hosted by 40 Acres and A Mule Productions at Theaster Gates studios.

My responsibilities included:

• Coordinating with the client and collaborating on the menu to ensure it met their preferences and needs.

• Overseeing the setup of tables, bar, and linen on the day of the event to create an inviting atmosphere.

• Staffing the event with catering personnel and assigning duties on-site to ensure smooth operations.

• Scouting the venue for culinary team load-in and load-out logistics to facilitate efficient setup and breakdown.

• Overseeing the event on the day, ensuring all aspects ran smoothly and according to plan.

• Keeping the run of show on track to maintain the event schedule.

• Receiving wine and other deliverables as requested by talent to meet their specific needs.
